Services

GGH Racing offers a bespoke training service for Point to Pointers, Hunter Chasers and Thoroughbreds who are destined to run under rules. We are happy to work with owners who already have a horse or we can source a horse for an owner, and have produced winners with both scenarios.

Our Goal
Our goal is to enable each horse in our care to fulfill it's potential to win races and by doing this to give owners the irreplacable thrill and excitement of seeing their horse succeed.

Ethos
Our ethos here at GGH Racing is that each horse is an individual and not a number. As such we tailor make a training programme for the individual's requirements. We try to understand what makes each horse tick and what they need to enable them to perform at their very best when on the racecourse.

Location
This winning yard, set on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor countryside, is a quiet and calm environment where horses thrive. With a choice of privately owned gallops and lanes the horses are able to enjoy their work and education and get to the races well prepared. The yard consists of both outdoor loose boxes (with top doors both back & front) and two barns which also house a number of good sized boxes.

Schooling
We have a range of professionally built schooling fences and hurdles supplied by Willis Brothers (suppliers to Cheltenham, Chepstow & Taunton Racecourses, as well as over 50 NH Trainers).
These combined with our own log and barrel lanes ensure that our runners get to the racecourse having been well schooled and with the confidence they need to jump well.

Roadwork
We are lucky enough to have extensive undulating roadwork along the farm's private green lanes, as well as the quiet moorland lanes on which to exercise the horses. There is an array of different roadwork routes to be taken encompassing both flat and good hill work. This ensures that the horses never become stale or bored and are strong and fit when they reach the races.

Jockeys
We have been lucky enough to build great relationships with a number of top jockeys, including National Champion Polly Gundry , who before her retirement rode a winner for the yard and Men's Champion Richard Burton who rode for us for the first time on 2011. We have also recently used Jenny Carr, Lizzie Kelly , Josh Guerrerio and Richard Hawkins, with some success.
We do try to insist that jockeys come down on a regular basis to school the horses prior to raceday - giving horse and rider a chance to get to know one another.
