GGH Racing offers a bespoke training service for National Hunt racehorses. We are happy to work with owners who already have a horse or we can source a horse for an owner, and have produced winners with both scenarios.
Our goal is to enable each horse in our care to fulfill it's potential to win races and by doing this to give owners the irreplacable thrill and excitement of seeing their horse succeed.
Our ethos here at GGH Racing is that each horse is an individual and not a number. As such we tailor make a training programme for the individual's requirements. We try to understand what makes each horse tick and what they need to enable them to perform at their very best when on the racecourse.
This winning yard, set on the edge of the beautiful Dartmoor countryside, is a quiet and calm environment where horses thrive. With a choice of privately owned gallops and lanes the horses are able to enjoy their work and education and get to the races well prepared. The yard consists of both outdoor loose boxes (with top doors both back & front) and two barns which also house a number of good sized boxes.
We have a range of private gallops:- Including a seven furlong grass gallop. which is on a gentle slope, which enables the horses to fully extend in thier fast work, a 6 furlong round gallop, a 4 furlong stariaght hill gallop and a 3 furlong stiff hill canter, which we use for all our stamina and fitness work. The combination of these two gallops ensures that our horses get to the races race fit and able to gallop strongly on to the winning line.
We have a range of professionally built and well maintained schooling fences and hurdles supplied by Willis Brothers (suppliers to Cheltenham, Chepstow & Taunton Racecourses, as well as over 50 NH Trainers).
These combined with our own log and barrel lanes ensure that our runners get to the racecourse having been well schooled and with the confidence they need to jump well.
We are lucky enough to have extensive undulating roadwork along the farm's private green lanes, as well as the quiet moorland lanes on which to exercise the horses. There is an array of different roadwork routes to be taken encompassing both flat and good hill work. This ensures that the horses never become stale or bored and are strong and fit when they reach the races.
Our policy is to use the best jockeys available for our horses. and our owners.
We have a great team of Professional Jockeys who are confident in our horses and believe in us and what we do here. Our regular team members are David Noonan, Ben Poste and Rex Dingle, who have all ridden winners for us in the 2019-2020 season. We have also had Tom Scudamore and Micheal Nolan ride for us. They are all great lads and great horseman to have on board on raceday.
We do try to insist that any jockeys come down on a regular basis to school the horses prior to raceday - giving horse and rider a chance to get to know one another.
